My mother, who is handicapped, and I stayed one night at the Rio. It is close to the Strip but not on it and has shuttles to other casinos but. If we had neighbors, I didn't hear them once, no drunken laughter in the hallways, or slamming doors. I'm a light sleeper but had no problems sleeping here. On the other hand, our room was very nice, surprisingly spacious, and very quiet. It is not very handicapped friendly just by design. I had to drop her off and pick her up at the front doors (which the lanes were always blocked by taxis) and she still had to walk the width of the casino floor to the elevators to get to our room. When brought up to the front desk, their only suggestion was vallet parking, which we are not comfortable with. My mother prefers to walk, although it is slow going and painful for her, rather than lug her wheelchair out of the trunk and try to get through the crowded casino floor but there was no where to park close enough that she could do this. The hotel elevators are pretty much in the middle of the casino. The parking garages are on either side of the hotel with VERY limited handicapped parking spots. It took about a half hour of waiting in line to check in on a Friday afternoon (around 4pm which was check in time).
